FIREFIGHTER OPERATIONS

The fireground requires firefighters to perform numerous tasks, all working in a systematic and coordinated effort to reach the common goal of successfully and safely mitigating the emergency. First Due Training & Safety Consultants offers a wide range of fireground classes that range from basic refreshers to more advanced fireground classes, that can enhance the abilities of your members.

ENGINE COMPANY OPERATIONS  

Contact Hours: 3-6
This class is designed to be a "Back to the Basics" refresher class. The content of this class targets basic engine company operation, ranging from traditional hose lays and hoseline advancements to suppression tactics, strategies and techniques. This class offers flexibility, where it can be presented as a lecture, hands-on or a combination of the two.

 

LADDER COMPANY OPERATIONS  

Contact Hours: 3-6
This class is designed to be a "Back to the Basics" refresher class. The content of this class targets the fundimentals of basic truck company operations, including but not limited to ventilation, laddering, forcible entry, search & rescue, salvage and utility control. We also cover "tools of the trade", providing students with a unique look at their tools and intended uses. This class offers flexibility, where it can be presented as a lecture, hands-on or a combination of the two.

 

THE ENHANCED ENGINE: SQUAD COMPANY  

Contact Hours: 2-4
It's an Engine, or is it? With so much training available, so much demand for the fire department to do more and more, and so much equipment; many departments are converting their Engine in to a "Squad Company". Our class discusses the concept of an Enhanced Engine, and breaks down responsibilities, equipment and the overall mission.

 

SEARCH OPERATIONS  

Contact Hours: 3-6
Life safety is a firefighters number one priority. Searching for life must be quick and thorough. This class offers insight and instruction on various techniques for interior searches of private dwellings and will cover large area searches in commercial buildings. Students will learn how to "always search for the exit", "line discipline" and other important lessons in performing searches.

 

FORCIBLE ENTRY  

Contact Hours: 3-6
Attacking a door with the goal of defeating the lock is an art! This class will present the student with the fundimentals of the forcible entry, looking at the traditional tools, specifically the "irons" (halligan / flat head axe) and hydraulic Hydra Ram (bunny tool), and how to effectively access through inward and outward swinging doors. This class offers lecture and hands-on with our state-of-the-art forcible entry door prop.

 

RIDING POSITIONS  

Contact Hours: 2-4
Being systematic and thorough is vital to the successful outcome of a fire emergency. Whether you are a career or volunteer department, having riding assignments for your personnel will make your response organized and efficient. This class will get your agency pointed in the right direction.

 

THERMAL IMAGING  

First Due Training & Safety Consultants is pleased to offer Thermal Imaging training through a cooperative partnership with SAFE-IR, based out of Montgomery, NY. This class offers firefighters an opportunity to learn how to use their thermal imager effectively and safely. Learn from a cadre of instructors who will offer you years of practical firefighting and thermal imaging experience. Our instructors are not salesmen or factory reps, but firefighters from urban fire departments nationwide.
